  Do you actually give the catholic church a pass for :

  Supporting the abuse of native land owners during colonisation?

  The abuse of children in their care for centuries?

  The support of slavery - perpetual servitude for pagans? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dum_Diversas

  The silence of the papacy during the holocaust?

  Anti-science persecutions of the middle ages?

  A lot of people who went to catholic schools talk about the cruelty of the brothers and the nuns.

  They have enjoyed great power for about 2 thousand years and while they have done some good, they have abused that power and caused untold misery for a lot of people too.

  further edit: that’s another point some of these people make. We talk about “AI” as if it’s one thing, when really there are going to be many different AIs, and if they are correct about the risk, it only takes one of them to be misaligned with human goals, combined with super intelligence, is a deadly recipe.

  There are also a lot of everyday programmers who work on machine learning or other AI projects of their own as hobbies. All it takes is a basic understanding of a programming language like Python, which is considered one of the most user friendly languages for beginners. A couple of months practise and you can start building your own AI project for world domination.

  I didn't watch the video but AI is being introduced into a greater range of industries as it gets better.

  Manipulation of AI for criminal activity is a risk with the technology as it is right now.

  Jws will argue that God guided the compilation of the bible. For one to believe that, one also has no choice than to accept the influence of the catholic church in that process.

  There are more problems though. The earliest complete bibles contain the apocrypha. Does that mean these versions are the right ones, or are only the protestant versions that came 1500 yrs later and removed the apocrypha gods word?

  Jesus quoted from apocryphal books, so why don't we leave them in, and who decides that? Was it jesus, god, or men?

  If jesus quoted from the septuagint, why do jws prefer the much later masoretic text in their translation?

  Paul and Luke wrote about half the new testament between them, yet neither of them met jesus.

  do y'all believe the gb are the f&ds?

  if the answers are no, then why do y'all defend so passionately the date 607?

  It has an interesting section about the UN and JW's involvement and its good to actually see the UN letter concerning JW membership still on the UN website. here: https://www.un.org/en/civil-society/watchtowerletter

  The video shows the Awake articles that sucked up to the UN from the 90's, notably the articles from Oct and Nov 1998, which has a full page transcript of the UN declaration of human rights. Big surprise, the 1998 Awake is missing from the JW.org library. Coincidence?

  which he said would never occur again?

  got a link for a zoom meeting and thought id share my experience about the mid-week meeting.. guessing about 100 - 120 in cong.. 50 on zoom, only 8 with cameras on - all elderly.

  watching from a detached point of view it's so obvious at how it is nothing but a glorified sales meeting, all designed to promote the org.

  inspirational videos about how everyone can/ should do more to help with projects, in particular how to look after the kingdom hall, complete with bar charts showing levels of achievement to aspire to.. interestingly, tonights book study is about alcohol..

  About 50% of the congs I know of are still not coming to meetings in person, and that's definitely more than the number who are genuinely housebound or who have debilitating conditions that prevent them from attending regularly (usually no more than 10-15 people in any congregation). Of those who do attend on Zoom, hardly any turn their cameras on now.

  
  

  The people that dont turn on their cameras are the same ones that trash talk and shun ex-jw's that dont buy into it anymore, yet they cant even turn on their cameras to encourage others?

  For a comparison, during the pandemic, gym members logged into zoom classes, with their cameras on. All of these people couldnt wait to get back to real life classes. Now, gyms are full again, unlike kingdom halls.

  How could you tell how many people were in the Kingdom Hall. Do they give you a view of the whole hall on the Zoom video?

  No - Its just that I still know people that attend that cong so I have an idea of the usual attendance.
